What is your go to habit as a winter storm approaches? This time, we probably won’t get much storm or ice where I live, but temperatures will drop into the single digits.
Oklahomans aren’t winter people – we’ll watch a tornado from our porch, and hide from ice. If a storm is predicted, we’ll stock up like we won’t be able to leave our house for two weeks. I’m not immune from this – I went grocery shopping yesterday because I didn’t want to risk needing to during the extremely cold weather. I have never seen so many people at a grocery store at 5:30 PM on a Thursday – it was worse than the days before Thanksgiving. The roads were more crowded than they had any right to be as everyone did their pre-winter storm errands. The commercial district was insanity, and we aren’t even expecting much precipitation.
So, how do you react to upcoming winter weather? I did my grocery shopping early, I’m dripping my faucets, and putting blankets/towels over windows to help block drafts (old windows). I also opened more windows shades to try to help warm the house with sunlight. I’ve got baking plans and my warmest socks ready to go. What about you?
