In no particular order, black beans, bananas, eggs, milk, and smoked sausage – at least, according to my Walmart Pickup App.

Black beans are a staple in my cooking. Some meals, like black bean enchilada casserole, have it as the main protein. Other meals, like burrito bowls, have the beans included as a way to stretch the meat further. I could eat black beans every day, in various preparation methods, and I don’t think I could ever grow tired of them.

Bananas – the easy, cheap fruit of choice for my family. If they happen to get too ripe, they also make wonderful muffins.

Eggs and milk are very traditional staples. I don’t like the taste of eggs, but my husband does and I use them frequently in baking. We drink milk in addition to its baking usefulness, so we can go through it quite quickly.

Finally smoked sausage, another staple in my cooking. Sausage and rice is a favorite meal of ours, and so is sausage spinach pasta. Sausage is also wonderful for stir-fry, serving with roasted vegetables, and all sorts of combinations with rice or pasta. It’s cheap and easy to prepare which is a big part of the appeal to me.

Fun Fact: I’m pretty sure those two sausage recipes are the basis of the meals I’m use to cooking, but I’ve been cooking them by memory for so long that my recipe has developed several variations from the original. Luckily, pinterest still had them saved for me.
